This training course introduces partnership working. Partnerships are a key part of the engagement landscape and can take many forms. Whilst working in effective partnerships can bring many benefits to both parties, such as increased perspective, higher quality and relevant research, how do you get started? And how do you ensure that the partnerships you develop are effective for all involved?

Working in Partnership, 2022

Session Format

Our sessions can be highly participatory but we invite everyone to join in a way that suits their own needs and allows them to gain the most from the experience.

Both in-person and online sessions last 2.5 - 3 hours (including at least one 10-minute break) and involve a blend of presented material covering key theories, tools and frameworks alongside discussion and reflective activities in small groups. Participants are welcome to join group discussions or take time for some solo reflection.

In-Person Training

If you prefer your training to be delivered face-to-face, we allocate a tutor from our team of experienced practitioners to travel to your premises. On receipt of your booking form, we will send you a quote for delivery within 5 working days, based on the information you have provided.

You can book single or multiple courses, and we will aim to schedule the delivery of these in as cost effective and efficient way as we can. We cannot guarantee to deliver two or more courses on a single day.

Online Training

You may find it easier for those with a busy schedule to book training delivered online.

We use Zoom to deliver these sessions and a variety of digital tools such as break-out rooms, whiteboards and Padlets to ensure the session is engaging and impactful.

All of our materials are accessible and we ask that you advise us of any participant access requirements or reasonable adjustments we need to make in advance to ensure that their experience is as inclusive as possible.

Useful Information

Allocating Your Tutor

All our Tutors have extensive training and practitioner experience in public engagement and we will match you to the training associate we think is right for you and your organisation, while taking into account location and availability.

Accessibility

For online sessions hosted on Zoom:

  • The event may be recorded for training development purposes
  • The trainer will be using a live camera and audio and will show slides
  • Participants are invited to participate in a way which is comfortable for them
  • Some of the interactions will take place using a chat function or a digital whiteboard such as Padlet where people can type their responses
  • Participants with specific needs are welcome to bring a personal assistant
  • We ensure that there is at least one scheduled 10-minute comfort/screen break in every session however participants can step away from the screen when they need
  • The training materials we share in advance are optimised for screen-reading software and visual materials will be described as best as possible by the trainer throughout the session
  • We encourage participants to let us know in advance of any access requirements to allow us to make reasonable adjustments

For in-person sessions hosted on location at your organisation:

  • We recommend that there is a quiet space available for participants to access throughout the event and that any other necessary steps are taken to ensure inclusion for participants
  • Training sessions will take place both in plenary and in small discussion groups
  • Participants will have the option to take some time for solo reflection instead of joining small group discussions if they prefer
  • We ensure that there is at least one scheduled 10-minute comfort break during the session however participants can step out as and when they need
