Engaged Futures - Catalyst Group

Engaged Futures is an exciting new initiative to collectively imagine engaged futures for higher education in the UK and identify concerted actions that can lead us there.

We are seeking 'Engaged Futures Catalysts’ to join in this change-making endeavour.

With rapidly changing expectations about the role of knowledge creation in society, as well as the significant financial uncertainty faced by the sector, the NCCPE are inviting people to join us in imagining new futures for the higher education sector in the UK.

Over the next 18 months we will be working to consider all aspects of the system – from the funding it receives; the ways universities organise themselves; the people and communities involved; the practices people are involved in; and shifts in wider society that impact the work of the higher education sector.

Together we will imagine futures for the sector where knowledge is built openly and inclusively; re-imagine the role and position of universities in knowledge production; and explore the actions needed to realise these futures.

What is an ‘Engaged Futures Catalyst’?

We want to work with people who are committed to being catalysts for change – who will not only help us to envisage a more inclusive future but also drive change.

Together we will imagine futures for the sector where knowledge is built openly and inclusively; re-imagine the role and position of universities in knowledge production; and explore the actions needed to realise these futures.

If you choose to sign up, there will be lots of ways of being involved which we outline below. We want to be as flexible as possible, to suit your preferences and availability. But what we will ask of our Catalyst Group members is that you commit to learning alongside other participants, sharing your insights and expertise, and taking relevant actions in your own area of work.

Who can be an ‘Engaged Futures Catalyst’?

We want to attract a diversity of people involved within the system of higher education, as well as those working with or alongside HEIs. We are keen to work with anyone who has an interest in the future of the higher education sector and how universities engage with society.

You get to choose what to get involved in. Depending on the commitments you take on, there will be the possibility of applying for a bursary to support participation e.g. to cover caring costs or travel.

We value and encourage representation of anyone interested in this work. Read our inclusion statement below
