The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) is funded by UK Research and Innovation, the devolved Higher Education funding bodies, and Wellcome.

UK Research and Innovation

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) brings together the seven UK Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England into a single organisation that maximises the contribution of each Council and creates the best environment for research and innovation to flourish. Research England

Research England oversees UKRI's England-only functions in relation to university research and knowledge exchange. This includes providing grant funding to English universities for research and knowledge exchange activities; developing and implementing the Research Excellence Framework in partnership with the UK Higher Education funding bodies; overseeing the sustainability of the Higher Education research base in England.

As autonomous and diverse organisations, Higher Education Institutions play a distinctive role in the research and innovation system. Research England challenges them to deliver to national agendas and supports them in achieving that.

Wellcome

Wellcome is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative biomedical research and the medical humanities in the UK, and internationally spends around £650 million each year to support the brightest scientists with the best ideas. Their breadth of support includes public engagement, education and the application of research to improve health.

Department for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland

The Department for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland (DELNI) supports learning and skills, to promote economic, social and personal development through high quality learning, research and skills training.

Higher Education Funding Council for Wales

The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) is funded by the Welsh Government to distribute funding for higher education in Wales. It works to develop and sustain internationally excellent higher education in Wales, for the benefit of individuals, society and the economy, in Wales and more widely.

Scottish Funding Council

The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) is the national, strategic body that is responsible for funding teaching and learning provision, research and other activities in Scotland's 25 colleges and 19 universities and higher education institutions.

Arts Council England

The NCCPE's Museum-University Partnership Initiative is funded by Arts Council England's Museum Resilience Fund. Arts Council England champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people's lives, supporting activities across the arts, museums and libraries.
