EDGE Tool survey

updated on 30 Aug 2024

Copied to clipboard

This survey, based on the NCCPE's EDGE tool, explores institutional support for public engagement across nine dimensions: Mission, Leadership, Communication, Recognition, Support, Learning, Staff, Students and the Public.

Edge Tool Survey

This survey offers a unique opportunity to understand the bigger picture of engagement across your institution. The results of the survey can be used to assess the level of strategic and practical support currently offered by your institution, and to help identify areas for development, investment and change. This survey also gives you the opportunity to compare your data across that of other institutions who have completed it.

Questions

The questions link directly to the EDGE tool, or are drawn from the 2015 sector-wide Factor Affecting Public Engagement by Researchers survey, which allows for comparisons with national data. The survey tool can also be adapted to include up to two additional questions that offer specific insight about your institution’s approach to public engagement.

The main substance of the survey provides an opportunity for participants to assess your institution using the EDGE tool, and gathers data allowing us to make comparisons to the sector-wide picture offered by the 2015 Factors Affecting Public Engagement by Researchers survey.

Process

Upon booking, we will send you a sample survey and ask you to advise us of up to two additional questions you would like included.

We require two weeks to prepare a bespoke online survey for your institution, with a unique URL. The survey will then run for approximately 6-8 weeks.

Support

Once we have the results of the survey we will produce a synthesis report covering what is currently working well and providing a set of ‘highlight’ issues, discussion prompts and recommendations that can be used for future planning.

As part of the EDGE tool survey process, one of our experienced associates will also offer a day of consultancy support to discuss the results in more detail, build on recommendations and support action planning.
