Biochemical Society, Scientific Outreach Grants
The Society wishes to support scientific outreach activities that communicates the excitement of molecular bioscience to young people and the community. Applications are invited for up to £1000 to assist with the direct costs associated with an event and expenses incurred (e.g. transport and teacher cover).
British Ecological Society, Outreach Grants
These grants are designed to support the promotion of ecological science to a wider audience through the organisation of public events. Up to £2000 grants available. Applications close: 15th March 2023.
European Geosciences Union, Public Engagement Grants
Celebrating and recognising excellent science communication in the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The €1500 grants are awarded to EGU members interested in developing an outreach project that aims to raise awareness of geosciences outside the scientific community.
Institute of Physics (IOP) Awards for Public Engagement
The IOP Awards proudly reflect the wide variety of people, places, organisations and achievements that make physics such an exciting discipline. This includes several awards that recognise contributions to public engagement including: the Mary Somerville Medal and Prize for early career physicists; the Lise Meitner Medal and Prize for distinguished contributions to public engagement within physics' and the William Thompson, Lord Kelvin Medal and Prize for public engagement in physics.
Institute of Physics, Early Career Physics Communicator Award
The IOP Physics Communicators Group invites applications from people at the start of their careers in physics who have undertaken activities that support and encourage excellent communication of physics.
National Environment Research Council (NERC) Impact Awards
The NERC Impact Awards aim to champion the positive impact that NERC-funded research and researchers brings to our everyday lives, including our society, economy and environment. Awards from £7K - £20K available. Applications close: 21st April 2023.
Nuffield Research Placements
The placements provide over 1,000 post-16 students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.
Royal Academy of Engineering, Ingenious
Ingenious is a grant scheme for projects that engage the public with engineers and engineering. The grants prioritise projects that reach diverse and underrepresented audiences including communities in the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK, and that engage with engineers and people of different genders, ages and ethnic backgrounds. Funding from £3,000 to £30,000 is available.
Royal Society of Biology, Public Engagement Grants
Individual members of the The Royal Society of Biology (RSB) around the world can apply directly for funding to help run an event or activity in their region.There are details of a range of public engagement grants related to different biological specialisms on the RSB webpage.
Royal Society of Chemistry, Outreach Fund
The Outreach Fund aims to encourage and support the development of projects that raise awareness of the place of chemistry in people's everyday lives, especially those not already interested in chemistry, and/or develop the science communication skills of people who are already highly trained in chemistry. Small grants (up to £5000) and large grants (up to £10,000). Available bi-monthly, throughout the year.
Royal Society, Partnership Grants
Partnership Grants of up to £3000 are available to schools to enable students, aged 5 – 18, to carry out science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) projects. Additionally we are looking to support projects on computing and data science. Applications open, various submission deadlines with final submission deadline by the end of November.
Royal Society, Public Engagement Fund
This scheme provides between £500 and £10,000 for Royal Society Research Fellows to create and lead public engagement projects based on their research, and to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence.
Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Public Engagement funding
The STFC grant programmes support high-quality public engagement across the country and build community networks and partnerships to help raise standards of engagement. They offer a range of grant schemes to support high-quality public engagement across the country:
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Community Research Networks
Funding from UKRI, supported by The Young Foundation, to develop and sustain Community Research Networks, designed by community groups and partnerships that exist outside the current research and innovation system.
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Community Knowledge Fund
Grants worth between £10k and £100k are available to community groups and organisations around the UK. It is an open fund, meaning they’re interested in what matters to you, and keen to hear what ideas you have to use the knowledge in your communities to address these challenges. Funded by UKRI and delivered by The Young Foundation.
