Young people reshaping research

Queen Mary University of London and Staffordshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services (SCVYS)

From Staffordshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services, Know Your Place is a five-year UKRI Community Research Networks funded project designed to connect young people to research and social change through participatory action research. They will share the principles and processes of the project, including how they have embedded young people’s leadership through the Young People’s Steering Group. They will also share findings from the first Understand Your Place consultations taking place across Staffordshire and support participants to reflect on the implications of these for their own work, the wider research landscape and policy.

Queen Mary University of London have been working with Youth Insight Researchers to co-create training and toolkits on participatory research by documenting and reflecting on six active research projects involving young people. Co-designed and delivered by youth researchers, this interactive session will share practical tips for setting up youth-led reflections on research projects, explore creative methods for participation, and create space for discussions on building a strong culture of youth participatory practice in universities.
