Public Engagement Professionals: Roles, Experiences and Evolving Practice
Public engagement has become an established area of activity across UK higher education, supported by a growing community of professional practitioners. This encounter creates an opportunity to discuss the varied experiences, roles and career paths of those working in engagement. Through informal recorded conversations, we will explore topics such as professional identity, recognition, responsibilities, transitions between roles, and working cultures.
Participants are invited to share their own perspectives, whether they feel closely integrated within their institutions, more independent, or located somewhere in between. The aim is to build a collective picture of what it currently means to work in engagement and consider how the profession may continue to develop. The anonymised recordings will inform a small piece of research on Public Engagement career progression.
