Dave Horton (he/his)

Learning and Training Director at ACE (Action in Caerau and Ely)

Dave Horton has over 20 years' experience of Youth and Community Work in Cardiff and Cape Town.  Currently based in Ely, West Cardiff, he has played a key role in developing and leading ACE (Action in Caerau and Ely) a highly successful and nationally celebrated community development organisation that is transforming life in one of Wales' most disadvantaged communities.

He specialises in Asset Based Community Development and Co-production and is particularly interested in using these approaches to build the power of local people to challenge stigma and effect change.  He has significant expertise in the formation, governance, funding and management of community led organisations.

As Co-Chair of Citizens Cymru Wales for several years he was active with citizen-led organisations in using community organising to achieve social justice and political change.  He is a co-founder and was, until recently, a co-Director of CAER Heritage Project, an award winning flagship Civic Mission project at Cardiff University that has co-produced new archaeological and historical knowledge with the community of Ely, leading to the creation of a community heritage centre.  Dave has an MSc in Community Regeneration.

He's an avid reader and occasional guitar strummer!
