The Research and Knowledge Exchange office are a team of professionals providing support for the University’s research and knowledge exchange activities in line with the RKE Strategy and the University’s Academic Vision. We work closely with external organisations and MMU academic and support staff to ensure consistent and expert support in research and knowledge exchange development. This approach recognises the significance of the two-way flow of knowledge and expertise between the University and wider society, placing societal impacts alongside the economic benefits.
There are currently 3 posts available for Impact and Engagement Managers. Impact and Engagement Managers support a full portfolio of activities around research impact for post-REF2014 preparations and more broadly. They are also responsible for developing internal and external engagement programmes around research. There is a particular focus on embedding impact literacy within Research Centres and providing support to academic colleagues and research leaders to enhance research culture and impact.
Research Impact and Engagement Managers provide "on the ground" support in Faculties and Centres across the University. They will work closely with Research Centre leaders, the RKE Impact and Engagement Manager, Principal Investigators and award holders as well as other academics involved in delivering impact and Faculty and centrally-based research support including Research Development Managers.
The ideal candidates will have a proven ability to develop, implement and communicate the University's strategic approach to research impact and engagement. They will have outstanding project management skills and experience of developing and sustaining strategic relationships at all levels with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Candidates must have communication skills of the highest level and have a good understanding of what it takes to work in a Higher Education context.
Above all, the candidates must be able to bring dedication, passion and enthusiasm as well as their track record and experience to the challenge of supporting impact delivery and research engagement to Manchester Metropolitan University.
