
The Senior Manager (Research & Engagement) will be responsible for overseeing research administration and operations, as well as developing and co-ordinating the Institute’s external relationships. The research operations aspects of the role will include financial oversight and forecasting, working with the Directors on strategic planning, conducting reviews and evaluations, contributing to funding applications, supporting researchers on project budgets, planning and delivery, and contributing to the development and running of the new medical humanities MA programme. The postholder will also direct the Institute’s external relations activities, including developing mutually beneficial partnerships, oversight of our public involvement group, directing communications activities including our websites and other channels, providing expert advice and support to our researchers, and developing events, activities and training.
This role is based in the Institute for Medical Humanities in Durham City. There is some flexibility for hybrid-working, but a regular presence in Durham is necessary for staff supervision, meetings and operational matters. Some travel within the UK is likely including occasional overnight stays, and evening/weekend work may be required for certain meetings or events. The post is offered part time (0.8FTE/28h per week) with the exact working pattern to be agreed.
