Engagement and Impact Coordinator

£34,635 - £41,864

UCL Culture invite applications for the post of Engagement and Impact Coordinator.

The UCL Public Engagement Unit was created in 2008 as one of 6 in the United Kingdom to be funded by the Beacons for Public Engagement programme set up by HEFCE, Research Councils UK and the Wellcome Trust. Since 2008, the Unit has worked to embed public engagement through funding opportunities, training schemes, high profile public events like Bright Club and bespoke support for departments and UCL staff and students. This work comes together in a yearly awards ceremony, hosted by the Provost and celebrating the public engagement efforts of all UCL staff and students. The Public Engagement Unit has supported over 750 engagement projects, awarded £630,000 funding and contributed to events attended by over 20,000 visitors. The Unit is an active contributor to Public Engagement at a national level and has won awards from the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) for innovative approaches to creating connections with communities.

The post holder will provide tailored support and advice to a cohort of UCL academics whose research has been identified as having the potential for excellent impact, including consideration to become an Impact Case Study to represent the very best of UCL in the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF2021). The postholder will have access to funds to support the generation of public engagement-related impact. Working in close collaboration with colleagues in the UCL Research Impact Curation & Support (RICS) team and the Public Engagement Unit and broader UCL Culture, the postholder will explore ways in which public engagement activity can be strengthened as a means of realising high quality impact from research. The postholder will also embed within public engagement activity appropriate evaluation to assess the impact, why and how it came about and in doing so increase the skills and capacity of the researcher community.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 18th February.
