Engage Provocateurs
Engage 2023 provides an opportunity to move our collective thinking forward. We are inviting delegates and contributors from within and outside higher education, to put forward provocations to stimulate our thinking and encourage collective action. Provocateurs will have the opportunity to share their provocation and lead a session with delegates to develop practical ideas to address it.
If you would like to be an Engage provocateur, please share the outline of your provocation when you register. The information we will need from you in the booking form is:
- A summary of your provocation in one line: e.g. public engagement is an outdated term, and we need to reinvent our language
- Description of provocation
- What questions would you like to discuss with delegates relating to this topic?
- How would you manage this conversation to lead to actionable outcomes?
You have 1000 characters (with spaces) for each answer. In framing your provocation, you might think about
- What is the opportunity or challenge in relation to public engagement that you want to focus attention on?
- Why is it so important for us to address it?
- What could be different if people did act on your provocation? What’s your vision?
- Who needs to be involved?
Run a Carnival stand!
Engage Carnival Hosts
The Engage Carnival will be a spectacular celebration of engagement practice! We are seeking hosts for carnival 'stands' that delegates will be assigned to for 15 minutes. You will have 7 minutes to 'hold the floor', to share the essence of your practice and bring the experience to life. Delegates will reassigned to different stands twice, so you will meet 3 groups in total. You could share:
- A case study example of engagement practice
- A story
- An interactive exercise you can do in the session together e.g. a listening exercise
- An Immersive experience
- A film
If you would like to be an Engage Carnival Host, please share the outline of your stand when you register. You have 1000 characters (with spaces) for each answer. The information we will need from you in the booking form is:
- Title of Engage Carnival Submission
- Is your submission a:
- Case Study
- Story
- Interactive exercise
- Immersive experience
- Film
- Description of carnival submission, including who else is involved. Please note: contributors will need to book their place at the conference separately.
- How will you make your 7 minute introduction as engaging and involving as possible for delegates?
- How will you enable delegates to respond, react and ask questions?
Submissions for stands will be open until Monday 23rd October and successful contributors will be notified by Tuesday 31st October. You will then need to share a full session outline and tech requirements by Wednesday 15th November.
