What we're learning about embedding engagement in UKRI internal culture
There is a growing need for transformational change across the R&I sector to embed ethical, inclusive partnerships with the public so that research and innovation can deliver real benefits for society. Yet many organisations still lack the capacity, capability, policies, and processes required to do this effectively.
In this session, we will share insights from our work to build UKRI’s institutional capability to embed public engagement in our work as a funder, including a pilot programme of learning and development initiatives designed to strengthen skills, knowledge and confidence within the organisation. Alongside changes to funding policies and processes, this work aims to create the conditions for meaningful public participation to improve research outcomes. We intend for this session to be an open space where we can work together on solutions to shared challenges.
