Knowledge for Change Consortium: building capability for co-production

Location
Online
Date and time
Wednesday, 17 September 2025
10:30am - 12:00pm

Come and hear the stories of those involved in Knowledge for Change (K4C), a vibrant international network of training hubs designed to support the co-creation of knowledge by practitioners, community based researchers, community groups and academics. Since 2017, 24 hubs have been set up across the world, with a focus on building capability in the global south. In 2024, the K4C Consortium transitioned from a centralized training model to a decentralized, regionally anchored approach with 5 regional centres operational globally.

You will meet the project founders and hear the stories and experiences of K4C mentors from Dr Rajesh Tandon, Alois Porokwa, Fadly, Elham Rasoulian and Dr Anshuman Karol. Learn more about how this global movement is effecting change in collaborative and co-produced research, led by, for and with communities.

The Knowledge for Change (K4C) Consortium is an initiative of the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, led by Dr. Budd Hall (University of Victoria, Canada) and Dr. Rajesh Tandon (PRIA, India). Each local hub is made up of at least a higher education institution (HEI) and a civil society organization (CSO) collaborating on strengthening individual research capacities and professional skills using a variety of teaching methods. Participants are able to undertake a Mentor Training Program (MTP) based on online learning activities, a two-week face-to-face learning workshop, and local field work. Mentors then play a key role in the development of the local hub, including the creation of teaching curriculum and pedagogy, and the development of research capacities in the local/regional hubs.

This webinar will be followed by a 30 minute networking session. You can opt into this using the registration form.

The NCCPE Sector Seminars programme brings together speakers from across national and international engagement landscapes to share their perspectives on key themes such as civic partnerships, engaged research, and inclusive engagement practice. Be inspired by innovative thought leadership and creative engagement approaches, whilst developing tactics for culture change with your peers.

These online webinars are for anyone working in or with Higher Education Institutions across the globe.  Simply listen in, or take an active part in the conversation with other changemakers in the sector.
