Why we've signed the Manifesto
"Lancaster University is fully committed to sharing our knowledge and resources with the public. We are convinced that this benefits our staff, students and the people that we interact with. Our aim is to further embed public engagement in the life of the University in order to widen the impact that we have on society."
Professor Mark E Smith, Vice-Chancellor
Our approach to public engagement
Lancaster University has a long track record in both involving the public in our research and engaging members of the public in hearing and debating the outcomes of our work.
Our staff and students interact in a wide variety of ways with the public of all ages and we recognise the benefit this can bring to all parties.
Key to this are partnerships between the University, our staff, our students, our Students’ Union and external organisations and we have established a Strategy Board to oversee activities and further embed public engagement as part of the daily life of the University.
