Telling the Story Together: Understanding the Difference Engagement Makes

How do we know if engagement or involvement makes a difference – and who gets to decide? This interactive, reflective workshop introduces three practical approaches to evaluating engagement/involvement: Oxford University's Difference Framework and Toolkit, the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee's Public Engagement Evaluation Model, and Co-Production Collective's Learning by Doing approach. Through shared stories, practical tools, and small-group discussions, participants will explore how to tell more meaningful, inclusive stories of impact. Together, we'll reflect on how thoughtful evaluation can support learning, improvement, and mutual understanding - building stronger connections between communities, researchers, and institutions.
