We help universities engage with the public

The Engage Competition 2016 is now closed for entries. Our awards ceremony took place on 29th November 2016 in Bristol as part of the Engage Conference. Find out more about our finalists and award winners.

The eligibility criteria for competition entry is as follows:

  • The project must be an example of public engagement with research and/or researchers.

  • Applications from groups or partners in collaborative projects are encouraged, however the named applicant should be a current member of staff or student at a UK HEI or Research Institute.

  • Collaborations with other UK HEIs or Research Institutions are eligible.

  • The project must have taken place within the last 3 years. If your project is not yet complete, please tell us when you expect it to finish or whether it is an ongoing longer term project.

  • The project can have been entered for the Engage 2014 Competition. However, progress must have been made since the 2014 application, and this needs to be evidenced on the application form.

  • We will not accept more than one entry per project, and (unless instructed otherwise) will accept the first submission for any project entered for the competition.

  • Entrants agree to their entry being made public in a permanent online repository at NCCPE's discretion. For example, as part of our case study archive.

  • At least one person per finalist application will be expected to attend the final assessment and showcase their project as part of the NCCPE’s Engage Conference. The final assessment interviews will be held in Bristol on Monday 28th November 2016; the projects will be showcased at Engage 2016 on Tuesday 29th November, followed by the competition award ceremony.

  • Entrants agree to source/cover their travel costs to the final event if invited.
