Regional Ambassadors and Networks

The NCCPE Public Engagement Ambassador Scheme aims to improve the quality of higher education public engagement practice, by supporting individuals who coordinate relevant networks across the UK.

Our Regional Ambassadors work with the NCCPE to facilitate the scheme and organise events across six regions: Scotland, Northern Ireland, North West England and Wales, North East England, South West England and Wales, South England.

ScotlandAlex Hale

Our regional ambassador for Scotland is Alex Hale. Alex is an Archaeologist at Historic Environment Scotland (HES), as well as a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. Alex undertakes collaborative, participatory research projects within HES, as an Archaeology Projects Manager. Recently he worked on the ACCORD project enabling climbers to record their heritage at Dumbarton Rock.

Northern Ireland

Our regional ambassador for Northern Ireland is Eimear Barrett. Eimear is a Knowledge Exchange Officer at the Centre of Excellence for Public Health Northern Ireland, Queen's University Belfast.

North West England and WalesPenny incent

Our regional ambassador for the North is Penny Vincent. Penny is a Senior Lecturer in Community Engagement and Community Partnerships at Staffordshire University. Penny spends her time finding opportunities to open up the University to the public, and supporting staff and students to engage in local communities. Her role involves teaching, research and project work, and includes leading Staffordshire University's community action network and public engagement network.

South West England and WalesChloe Anderson

Our regional ambassador for the South West is Chloe Anderson. Chloe is an Academic Liaison Officer at the University of Bristol. Chloe supports researchers to do successful public engagement and to shout about it! Her role involves developing ideas and brokering relationships with third sector organisations to facilitate two-way exchange. She works with colleagues to train researchers in public engagement methodologies, whilst promoting best practice and opportunities via our practitioners' network to inspire and encourage others.

South EnglandDavid Hutchinson

Our regional ambassador for South England is David Hutchinson. David works as Innovation and Impact Development Manager for the Faculty of Technology at the University of Portsmouth. Before this, he was manager of the University of Portsmouth Environment Network (UPEN), having joined the University in 2010 to help establish this network. UPEN now represents the skills and expertise of over 250 academics from across the University that relate to Sustainability and Environment. David is also a founder board member of Future South, a collaboration of Business, Local Government and regional Universities, which works to deliver a low carbon Economy for the Solent region.
