Public Engagement and the Future Research Assessment Programme: Have your say

As part of the Future Research Assessment Programme (FRAP), the four UK funding bodies (Research England, Scottish Funding Council, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, Department for the Economy, Northern Ireland) are seeking views on the design of the UK’s future research assessment system.

The consultation, closing on 6th May 2022, invites feedback on the REF and asks for ‘blue skies’ thinking about the future of research assessment.

The consultation asks:

  • The purposes of a future exercise
  • The principles that should guide its development
  • The assessment criteria and processes

The NCCPE ran a workshop on Monday 25th April to invite feedback and shape our draft response to the consultation, working with colleagues from across the sector to consider how best to embed considerations about public engagement into the design of future research assessments.

Following this workshop and extensive consultation, we have now published our draft response and would very much welcome your feedback by the end of the day on Wednesday 4th May. The funders welcome responses from institutions and individuals so do take a look and consider sharing your views and perspectives.
