BIS are currently consulting on a ten year ‘road map’ for investment in research infrastructure. This closes on July 4th. It is part of their work to develop a new Science and Innovation strategy, launching this autumn
The consultation document touches on the role of public engagement, suggesting up to £40m might be invested in an ‘Inspiring Science’ fund and in e-infrastructure to support community engagement. It also suggests that major new research facilities might invest in PE infrastructure (quoting the example of a £30m visitor centre at Harwell).
We will be preparing a response to the consultation and would welcome your involvement in this. The briefing below summarises the key points in the document, and the timeline we are working to. We’ll have a draft response to circulate by 16th June – and would really value any initial reactions you have to the document to feed into our response. Please contact Paul Manners (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to get involved.
