Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics
Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 with a discretionary range to £40,847 p.a.
Applications are invited for a dynamic Public Engagement Officer to transform the relationship between our community of biomedical researchers and the public. You will be located at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford, an interdisciplinary centre of 470 scientists, which is an internationally-leading research institute for the study of the genetics of human diseases, structural biology and statistical genetics.
You will deliver a programme of activities to inspire audiences, stimulate debate, and engage with public concerns about the future of genetics and health. You will arrange appropriate training for researchers, and develop projects in partnership with local schools and cultural organisations.
You will be educated to degree level, preferably in a biomedical science subject, and a postgraduate qualification in public engagement or science communication would be desirable. You will have extensive experience of working in public engagement with science, and of delivering long-term projects successfully. You will be highly self-motivated, and capable of working with people at all levels of seniority. Familiarity with social media is essential.
