UKCPN logo Cap-a-pie logoThe UK Community Partner Network (UKCPN) is running an exciting regional event at the Great North Museum. The session is especially for community partners, although we have a few places for academics keen to support this work too. With help from theatre company, Cap-a-Pie, it offers:

  • Rare and dedicated time for community partners to meet each other
  • A chance to discover more about how others have made contact and are working with their local universities
  • An opportunity to build on your understanding of the pressures and drivers that make community university partnerships work well

This is a free event and lunch will be provided. We hope you can join us for the whole day but if that’s not possible, then you have the option to book on just one of the workshops – but please join us for the networking lunch too!

Programme

09.30  10.00 Registration

10.00 – 12.30 Understanding the Higher Education Sector

Whether you have an established relationship with a university or are just beginning to think about partnerships with academic researchers, it helps to understand each other’s terrain. This workshop will explore creatively the academic context, the wider Higher Education Sector and what this means for those us in community based organisations seeking to partner with academics.

12.30 – 13.45 Networking Lunch

Rare and dedicated time for community partners in your area to meet up - a relaxed space to share and reflect on your own experiences, ponder the ingredients for a good lunch and good community university partnerships and find out more about the work of the UKCPN and how you can get involved.

13.45 – 16.00 Building Good Research Partnerships

What can drive, enable or block the creation of good community-university research partnerships? This workshop will guide us through a creative exploration to help us consider what helps and what might hinder.

The event will be jointly facilitated by the UK Community Partner Network (UKCPN) and Cap-a-Pie. The UKCPN works to promote good quality partnerships between community based organisations and universities. Cap-a-Pie is a participatory theatre company working in residence at Newcastle University on Performing Research, exploring theatre and drama.
