Are you interested in mathematical outreach? Do you create, design, operate or sell maths exhibits? Then join us at the MATRIX conference at the University of Leeds, 1st to 3rd September 2016.

The second MATRIX conference (Mathematics Awareness, Training, Resource, & Information Exchange) is jointly organized by MathsWorldUK, MoMath (= the National Museum of Mathematics in New York), and the School of Mathematics, University of Leeds.

MATRIX is a gathering of writers & tweeters, sculptors & speakers, buskers & bloggers, podcasters & vloggers, curators & coders, jugglers & jokers, artists & authors, designers & performers – basically anyone who is serious about making maths fun.

It will be the largest UK gathering of its kind in recent years – and of course international visitors are warmly welcomed too! Confirmed participants currently include Simon Singh, Colin Wright, Katie Steckles, Matt Parker, Chris Budd, and many others.

There will be a dedicated exhibition space for mathematical artworks, games, & gadgets, as well as a short-film competition for UK school students.

The meeting will include public lectures by Hannah Fry and Tadashi Tokieda, along with a large number of 20-minute talks. The aims are to exchange experiences and ideas, to make friends, to put faces to names, to spark collaborations, and generally to take stock of what the mathematical outreach community has been getting up to in the last few years, as we all look to the future.

The first MATRIX Conference was held in Dresden in 2014, and featured Keith Devlin, James Tanton, Günter M. Ziegler, and representatives from maths museums around the globe.
