Thursday, May 11, 2017 - 9:30am to 4:30pm

Initiated in September 2015, this event aims to encourage science communicators from across London to get together. The first symposium was in 2016 and over 140 people from across the UK got together to share their work and their ideas.

This year's event is being held in partnership with the QMUL Centre for Public Engagement (CPE), and Centre of the Cell, and is being held at the Blizzard Institute.

The programme has been developed to reflect the community that have come to the London SciComm Socials so far, while also listening to the feedback following the previous symposium. A key interest was opportunities to network so look out for the Centre of the Cell mini-tours for symposium attendees - a perfect opportunity to see inside a science education centre and get to know your fellow symposium attendees better.

There's an exciting line-up of speakers from across the world of science communication and public engagement including: Mary-Clare Hallsworth, Public Engagement Coordinator at Birkbeck; Steve Cross, Wellcome Engagement Fellow and formerly Head of Public Engagement at UCL (University College London); Kimberley Freeman, Executive Officer for Public Engagement, and Manager of the Centre for Public Engagement at Queen Mary University of London; .Janet Stott, Deputy Director and Head of Public Engagement at Oxford University Museum of Natural History; and Dom Galliano, the director of outreach at South East Physics Network (SEPNet).

Tickets are free, but delegates are asked to contribute £10 to charity. All the money from ticket sales will go to the Stifford Centre (http://stifford.org.uk).
