Scheduled to follow the expected summer release of the Government-commissioned Dowling review: linking business needs with research capability, this seminar will be a timely opportunity to consider the recommendations of the review and the challenges for fostering long-term relationships between R&D-intensive businesses and university-based researchers.

Key areas for discussion include how to break down cultural barriers to collaboration between the private and university sectors as well as tackling challenges for long-term partnerships including grant funding rules and concerns around data-sharing, IP and taxation issues.

This conference will bring together key policymakers from Parliament and across local and central Government with academics and their representative bodies, university leaders, businesses and industry bodies, IP lawyers, consultancies, knowledge transfer organisations and grant-awarding bodies as well as representatives from the national public funding bodies and the research councils.
