Access requirements

We seek to make the Engage conference accessible, and invite you to share any specific requirements you have below. Please note, the event is wheelchair accessible and we provide a separate quiet room for delegate use. Parking is available in an NCP car park next to the venue, and spaces can be pre-booked here. You are welcome to bring a personal assistant, or service animal. Please let us know about the requirements you have that will help you fully participate in this event in the section below.

Please note that we will provide printed handouts of the plenary slides on request where possible, however this is dependant on individual speakers.
Personal assistants are welcome to attend the conference for free, with lunch and hot drinks included.

If, for accessibilty reasons, you are unable to attend the full day events or will not require catering, please contact Maddy Foard on 0117 328 7385 or maddy.foard@uwe.ac.uk to explore how we can best support your participation, including a reduction to the conference fees.

Pre-Engage events

Leading Engagement

As one of our pre-Engage events on the 3rd of December, we are also hosting a small workshop for those with more than 4 years' experience leading public engagement. This will be an opportunity for experienced public engagement professionals to come together to share their experiences, problem solve together, and explore how the NCCPE can support them.

If you are interested in applying to join this event, please email maddy.foard@uwe.ac.uk.

Event details

To make sure we place each workshop in an appropriate sized room, we'd like to have an indication from delegates as to which workshop they think they'd like to go to. This is to give us an indication of potential numbers, and is not a booking for this workshop. Please note that the programme is still in draft form and all sessions are subject to change.

Delegate contributions

We're doing things a little differently this year at Engage, and asking delegates to consider contributing to our plenary sessions in the following ways:

  • 2 minute soap-box speech - do you have a call to arms, a passionate plea, or an angry rant to disrupt our thinking? Or are you inspired by a wonderful example of engagement that you want to celebrate? This is your chance to share!
  • 4 minute stories of disruption - do you have a great story of disruption, from your practice, research or other experience that has led to effective change?
  • A wild-card contribution - your chance to disrupt! Singing, dancing, spoken word, artwork and more - the sky is the limit!

We are also hoping to create a 'living library' of delegates this year. A bookshelf of delegates will be created, all of whom you can 'borrow' for a 15 minute conversation about their topic of interest.

This should give people an idea of what you'd like to talk about if they 'borrow' you.
