The NCCPE team are currently reviewing what we do, and how we could improve our support for public engagement within higher education, inspiring high quality work that benefits society, enhances skills, and improves research.
Engagement is at the heart of what we do, so we are keen to learn from the many people who engage with us, and be inspired, challenged, and informed by their views. We are therefore launching a consultation over the summer and there are lots of ways you could get involved. We will be keeping you up to date with opportunities to participate over the coming months.
Who is the NCCPE for?
A key consideration in the consultation is who the NCCPE is for. We have been thinking hard about the people we work with and for, and are keen to focus our work on the things that are going to be most helpful to you, which contribute to a healthy engagement ecosystem. We believe that we are a catalyst for change, providing support for universities to embed engagement into their work, and working with engagement staff to inspire really high quality practice.
Therefore a key group that we work with are people who support engagement – engagement facilitators, brokers, leaders, and catalysts for change. This group of people are key to championing and supporting quality engagement and we have been privileged to work with many talented and inspiring people who are doing these roles.
Another key group are those that do engagement, researchers, cultural organisations, community based organisations and charities; people who have entered the Engage Competition; and who reflect on engagement work in the pages of Research for All.
Amongst both these groups are people who are just starting out, and those who have lots of experience; people from different disciplines; from different organisational contexts; and with different roles and responsibilities. We want to be an organisation that champions those who support engagement; and inspires those that do engagement, to do it well.
The first stage of our consultation is to review our current website, and we are expecting to make some changes. If you want to help, please fill in this simple questionnaire about your use of our site. We hope this will provide some insights into how our current site visitors engage with the site, and things they would like to see changed, or added. We will be listening, and it will definitely influence if and how we change the site. So whether you love the site, or whether you think it needs substantial reworking – we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to get involved in a more in-depth way – either to test out the wireframes for the website, or participate in a longer survey to be launched later this month, or attend a focus group event – then please get in touch with Laura Steele via email@example.com. We will advertise opportunities online, but are keen to hear from you if you want to be sent email updates.
We look forward to hearing from you – and refreshing our approach in light of your feedback.
