We are looking for a creative, hardworking and flexible engagement professional to join the School of Advanced Study's Public Engagement team on a 2 year fixed term contract. The role represents an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to build experience in marketing and communications in both the HE and arts sectors. Liaising with both cultural and HE partners at the university and across the UK, you will help us to coordinate and promote activities such as our flagship Being Human festival, and support internal and external communications across a number of public engagement projects.
Being Human festival
Being Human is the UK’s only national festival of the humanities. Established in 2014, it provides a forum for people to engage with research taking place in the humanities across the UK. The Public Engagement Officer will assist on aspects of the festival’s delivery including:
• Acting as a liaison point with festival partners across the country via telephone and email.
• Producing content for social media and digital marketing (including opportunities to input creative ideas, basic design work and opportunities to input on strategy).
• Assistance with general festival administration and other marketing and communications duties as needed.
The role represents an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking for a next career step in public engagement/communication in both the HE and arts sectors. Liaising with both cultural and HE partners across the UK, you will gain a unique insight into coordinating and marketing large events and will develop skills essential to working across sectors.
Although not essential, the festival’s strong focus on research in the humanities means that the role would suit a candidate with a background in and/or enthusiasm for, this subject area.
