This area of the site provides guidance on how to go about making your institution engagement-friendly. It distils the lessons learned by the Beacons and others. It is divided into three sections, each of which builds on the last to offer increasingly in-depth and practical advice and examples.

	Be inspired by our stories of change Beacons and others tell their stories describing how they have gone about changing their institutions to make them more supportive of public engagement, and sharing the lessons they've learned. These case studies explore the 'big picture' and may help you to tune in to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
	Self-assess your institution We've identified nine strategic and operational challenges which institutions need to address if they are to support engagement effectively. Here you can access asimple self assessment tool to help you to quickly take the temperature of your own institution's current performance in these areas.
	Plan for change This area takes you deeper into the nine challenges and provides an extensive set of tools and resources to supportchange. You can explore each of the challenges in depth, read case studies, access other universities' strategies and resources, and find contact points in other institutions.
