Successful Bids to Conduct Research Syntheses Announced

24 November 2009

The NCCPE has partnered with the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to conduct a series of research syntheses relevant to public engagement and the broader higher education sector, and are pleased to announce the successful bids in two recent calls:

Call 1: Academic Promotions Criteria for Third Stream Activity is being undertaken by Dr. Fumi Kitagawa from the University of Bristol.

Call 2: Widening Participation in Post-graduate Research Degrees is being undertaken by Dr. Paul Wakeling and Dr. Chris Kyriacou from the University of York.

The NCCPE and ESRC would like to thank all those who expressed interest in carrying out this work. Each bid was assessed by an independent panel of academic assessors, with final decisions made by the project steering group, which consists of representation from: ESRC; NCCPE; Research Council UK (RCUK); Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS); British Library (BL); and Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

The results of these investigations will be available in both a report and executive summary form in 2010.

The ESRC-NCCPE research synthesis programme commissions a small number of science and society research syntheses per year, each valued at up to £15 000.
