Dialogue academy: Wellcome-funded training for science communicators
- Date:
- 26 August 2009
A FREE training opportunity for UK science communication professionals, with travel and accommodation costs covered, led by At-Bristol, and developed in partnership with the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC) and four other science centres: Centre for Life, Glasgow Science Centre, The Living Rainforest and Thinktank.
Dialogue Academy is all about showcasing and sharing the latest dialogue techniques and activities, with a view to embedding more dialogue opportunities in the day-to-day practice of science and discovery centres, science museums, festivals and related organisations.
The academy will be run in two parts:
Part one: two days in residence exploring the practical skills and techniques for dialogue, as well as sharing developed resources and new ideas. Between parts one and two will be an eight-week period for staff to develop and deliver a dialogue activity in your centre.
Part two: participants will come back together to reflect on their activity; to consider how to disseminate what they have learned to their colleagues; to explore funding opportunities and discover how to embed dialogue into everyday practice at no-cost.
Dates and locations for the four academies are as follows:
| Explore-At-Bristol | 23, 24 September and 25 November 2009 |
| Thinktank, Birmingham | 11-12 January and 26 March 2010 |
