How does student experience change when projects are student led rather than HEI led? Does the shift to student as 'originator' of curriculum lead to enhanced student experience, engagement and employability?

These are the questions being discussed at this free mini conference hosted by Birbeck Student Union and HE STEM. This event is aimed at student union staff and officers, academics and HEI staff, and STEM students.

Throughout the conference there will be an emphasis on dynamic student leadership in STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) outreach, public engagement and community engaged learning projects and how this can be enhanced by working with Student Unions. They are the epicentre of student led projects within HEIs, but the role of student unions within STEM outreach and public engagement is as yet underdeveloped.

A dialogue about how Student Unions and HEI staff can form productive partnerships in STEM PE will also be featured. NUS will also be sharing their findings about student employability.

The conference will end with a showcase of STEM projects between 5:30 - 6:30pm.
