At this event NESTA will launch a provocation by Professor John Goddard exploring the vital economic and social contribution of the UK's universities.
Professor John Goddard OBE, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Newcastle University argues that publicly-funded universities in the UK have a civic duty to engage with wider society on the local, national and global scales, and explores what it would mean for universities to engage with this mission.
He will be joined by Professor Kathy Sykes, Professor of Sciences and Society, University of Bristol and Professor Steve West, Vice-Chancellor, University of the West of England for a discussion on the role of Universities in regional economic growth.
Sian Westlake, NESTA's Executive Director, Policy and Research will moderate.
