National Beacon Gathering: Manchester, April 16th 2010

Every year the beacons get together for the National Beacons Gathering. This year we were hosted by the Manchester Beacon.

The day was designed to explore two key themes: reward and recognition and evaluating culture change.  Over 55 staff and external partners attended from across the Beacons project, including staff directly employed in the beacons, their evaluators and colleagues from within their universities, from post doc students to PVCs.  Given the focus on reward and recognition several staff from Human Resources departments also attended.

Unfortunately, the day coincided with the Icelandic volcano, which prevented a number of people travelling on the day, including three key staff from CUE East.  The funders of the project were represented by RCUK and HEFCE.  The day was co-designed by Manchester Beacon and the NCCPE, and the event summary has been compiled by Paul Manners (NCCPE), Erinma Ochu (Manchester Beacon) and Suzanne Spicer (Manchester Beacon).
