You may think you know what volunteering is all about.

You’ve probably been told that it will improve your CV.

You’ve probably been told that it will make you more employable.  

You’ve probably been told volunteering will enhance your academic experience.

And that your University thinks it makes them look great to.

What you’ve been told is all true. But there’s a lot about volunteering that you might not expect.

A lot of people think its all charity shops, litter picking and soup kitchens.

But wouldn’t expect that through volunteering you’ll learn far more about life then your lecture notes could ever offer.

Volunteering can be whatever you want it to be. From making a mess. To making noise. Making a difference. Making a friend. Or just making someone smile.

I thought I was just doing work for free. But I couldn’t of been more wrong.

You’ll probably go into volunteering with your own ideas of what you’ll get out of it, but you’ll defiantly emerge with something altogether more surprising.  

Volunteering will give experiences and opportunities you can’t find in a prospectus and ultimately it’ll break you out of your bubble.

Through volunteering you’ll realise that not only are you transforming other people’s lives but you’ll also transform yourself above all expectations.
