Student Advisory Board

The NCCPE's Student Advisory Board (SAB) currently has 13 student volunteers from different universities around the country. They have worked with us for 3-12 months, supporting the vinspired students programme, helping us to develop our strategy, and ensuring that a student viewpoint is always at the heart of our work. Our SAB members are starting to become powerful national champions for student volunteering.

We recruited more members to our Student Advisory Board for the 2010-11 academic year to replace some members who have graduated or moved on, and to refresh and re-energise the group. The main role for the SAB during this time is:

• To develop a framework for universities to commit to student volunteering, through understaking the process of creating a Pledge and taking it forward within SAB members' own institutions and reflecting on the role that it could play;
• To look at the role that a national network of student volunteers could play and how this could be facilitated.
• To further the role of student volunteers as advocates for social change, and driving forward the relevance of universities to communities and the wider public;

The SAB works mostly through residential workshops, usually held over a Friday-Saturday. We will hold three workshops between October 2010 - March 2011. Other opportunities may arise for SAB members to participate in different areas of our work, or to represent us at events - though these are strictly optional.
