Public Engagement Courses
The NCCPE and the Beacons for Public Engagement are currently developing two training courses. The courses will be offered to universities and research institutions to adapt for use with their own staff. Once developed the courses will be offered to universities and research institutes as training the trainer sessions, enabling staff interested in running the courses to find out more about the course and the resources on offer. These sessions and the resources will be offered free to participating institutions - although they will be required to participate in course evaluation, and sharing learning from their experiences of running the course.
Research in the Spotlight: Exploring the social and ethical implications of your research
This course has been funded by RCUK and is aimed at researches who would like to develop their understanding of the social context of their research. The course can most usefully be run with a mix of disciplines. The course can also be run with a mix of researchers at different career stages and can also be used to good effect with early career researchers.
The course is currently being piloted, and the feedback from the pilots will be integrated into the final course design. We will then run training the trainer sessions for people interested in running the course in their own institution.
